Michael S. Cahill, MD is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology. He retired from the United States Army after 25 years of service, having attained the rank of colonel.
Dr. Cahill attended the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, graduating with a bachelor's in chemistry and life sciences. He earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and completed residency training in internal medicine at Tripler Army Medical Center. He then completed a cardiovascular medicine fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, followed by an interventional cardiology fellowship at George Washington University Hospital.
He served two combat deployments to Iraq and one combat deployment to Afghanistan and earned the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal, among other awards. Before joining Methodist Healthcare, Dr. Cahill served as director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio and chief of cardiology at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso. He is an active Fellow of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.
"After returning home from a deployment to Iraq, I developed a strong interest in interventional cardiology," Dr. Cahill explains. "I was drawn to the opportunity to play a direct, hands on role in the timely treatment of heart attacks and to make an immediate impact on patients' lives."
